Aye I guess you were John, had it not been for the nut behind the butt that might have been a nice 5 hole group. As it is I am able to cover that four hole group with a dime which is slightly smaller than a UK penny. Not bad for a run of the mill Enfield. As you say though, with the right load combination.

John, that is one rifle that is going nowhere. Admittedly I shot that group with a scope on the rifle when I first got it to see how well it shot and to test loads. I have now put the Lyman peep sight It came with back on and shot with it a few weeks back. I was very pleased with the results. My old tired eyes aren't what they used to be but it grouped just as well with the peep sight and the original Enfield front sight blade as it did with the scope.

I am seriously considering putting the scope back on it and hunting with it next week when our deer firearms season opens.

My Ishapore number five with a barrrel like a rusty gas pipe has hit the V bull with three successive shots at 900x with the same bullet.

Impressive indeed - but I'm a bit puzzled.

How did you get the same bullet back each time you fired it?
It must have taken ages to dig through all that sand.
Did you fasten a long string to it?
Perhaps you wrote your name on it.....
