Hello all, I live in deepest rural Brittany with The Boss, two cats and a mad dog. Since moving here I have joined a French club which is truly fantastic. I have a 60's manufactured SLR in 7.62, a Savage 110 in .204 Ruger and en-route a Mk IV Martini Henry. My interest in competitions has been renewed since I helped with our club black powder day, so now can't wait for the Martini! I also have meandered into the murky world of making my own tools and gadgets for the Martini, since everything is soooo expensive.

I didn't think military calibres were allowed in France! Ie the 7.62?

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!

Re: Another new member
Hi again,
I too had heard the "no military calibre" rule. It is, fortunately, bull! A member of a club which has a class 1 registration can have military calibres limited, I understand, to a maximum of five weapons. In our club there are several FALs, at least two L1A1 SLRs, numerous M4s, one G43 German semi auto sharpshooters rifle, a 1949/56 MAS French battle rifle, numerous Glocks..........................one member has a Dragunov.................
Military calibres are Cat 1 and as such I can only buy 1000 rounds per year per waepon, but reload as many as I want, apparently without limit.
Not as draconian as we British were lead to believe. Oh, as a member of my club and the FFT shooting organisation, I can even buy on-line, as I did for my Savage!

Welcome to the forum Chaspuss ... you've got some very nice toys
Owning a handgun doesn't make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician ............ "Lieutenant Colonel Jeff Cooper"
