No 4 Mk 2. Picked up a very nice late model Fazakerley. Good bore, overall excellent condition, and shoots way beyond my current abilities! I tried an old SMLE and a No5 as well but just got on better with the No 4. Also it's nice to have open sights so I can get competent with them as well as the scope on the 700.

Based on everything I've read on wiki, I wanted a Lee Enfield No. 1 Mk VI, but I'd struggle to justify my reasoning now. I can imagine having several books on .303s, it's one of those subjects everyone has an opinion on I guess.

What's special about the Fazakerley? Apart from the carbines they all look extremely similar to me. Yes I like open sights as well, it's a bit more manly...

Fazakerley was the home of Royal Ordnance Factory in Liverpool where they were made. Seems to be highly thought of by aficionados, especially those lucky folk in the US who can still buy them unused and wrapped for under $1,000:

Cool... What a treat to have a historical rifle that hasn't been opened since it was made 70 years ago... Wow. Can't you find them in this country like this?

Saw a couple of Lees like that at The Phoenix last year. Circa £800 and looked in unaired condition!
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

Shame they don't seem to be in the UK in this condition, especially considering they were made in Liverpool...

Kranks had some blonde LE's 3-4 years ago at quite sensible money, no doubt all gone and doubled in price by now...

Halodin, take your wallet and get along to The Phoenix at Bisley in 16 weeks time. You might just be lucky. If nothing else you'll have a blast.
