Sig 522

Hi all

Looking to buy a Sig 522 Swat. Any of the Sig owners on here have any tips on what to look for?
Also the chap selling is giving up his Club membership and FAC so he has nowhere to demo the rifle to me, so I am a bit wary of buying a rifle I can't shoot first.

Ideally I would like to shoot it first.

I'd heartily recommend that you try it first, mine was never as accurate as i'd have liked, but was extremely reliable and fun to shoot. The real issue I had was shooting from a bench or rest as the magazines are quite long.

Make sure you've researched the bolt circlip/spring problem if it's an older model, although I believe newer one's have engineered this out.

Ask him for the serial number and armed with that ring Jamie @ Garlands - he will tell you if it is a genuine import (All of which will have the new bolt assembly rod) - if it is one of the Grey imports (Like mine) then you will need to source the replacement bolt assembly rod yourself - very easy to fit.

I would not change mine for anything, despite having had an issue or two with it - the longer 30 round mags can be a a pain prone or off the bench. They certainly like to be kept clean (every 400 rounds or so) and do better with a light oil as opposed to grease on the bolt carrier/spring etc.

Mine is as accurate as you would expect from a .22lr and fitted with a SAK mod is great for bunnies too.

Mine is currently in bits being turned Olive drab

Remember, these were designed as a sub caliber training tool and should last a lifetime of UK club shooting!

The is up your way (well almost) in the Telford area. Any Ranges you can recommend that can be booked to test the rifle? From the info the guy has supplied the Rifle is 4 mths old, used once and had 100rds through it and is a Garlands import. Will see if he will supply me the SN.

Would love to see pics of yours when it has been painted.

Well I now have a new resident in my cabinet :)

100 rds of cci std and no issues planning on feeding her a diet of cci mini mags however. Any of the 522 owners on here have a recommend round or is the mini mag pretty much the way to go. Also need to dress the rifle sights, fore grip etc and source a couple extra mags.

Pics will be posted as soon as I have taken a couple.
