"Do some light weight training" Oh yeah; where did you get that idea, Gaz?

Can't quite remember... Maybe someone may have mentioned that to me or suggested it at some point!zeroveez wrote:"Do some light weight training" Oh yeah; where did you get that idea, Gaz?

Re: A very TR moan
Rather than complaining there is only one new name added to the county shooters list try responding to the counties availability requests. I am not prepared to spend all my time chasing people to shoot county matches so this year unless people come forward the county will not be entered into matches, I know for a fact 3 other counties wont be fielding teams for friendly matches this year for the same reason.
Re: A very TR moan
The point is you have not responded to your availability requests, it is a big enough struggle to get a team out for matches let alone practices, a lot of us use the LMRA matches for practice in as the coaching/shooters are arranged on the same target along wit the match subsidy makes this a much more cost effective option, if you feel you can get more shooters out I am more than willing to hand over he captaincy.
Re: A very TR moan
Great info in bold, thanks for sharing. Can I politely suggest including this in the usual email shot? It's all good and well if you're a regular member of the county team (unlike moi) and know this already ... less so if you're trying to pick it back up again.Lee wrote:The point is you have not responded to your availability requests, it is a big enough struggle to get a team out for matches let alone practices, a lot of us use the LMRA matches for practice in as the coaching/shooters are arranged on the same target along wit the match subsidy makes this a much more cost effective option, if you feel you can get more shooters out I am more than willing to hand over he captaincy.
I'll hold that thought on the county captaincy

Gaz,
Why not be the guy that changes things in your county (I know not which), to everyone's benefit?
Just because training hasn't been done as a team doesn't mean it can't be. I can think of at least one county whose fortunes drasticaly improved when a new captain set out some team specific training, made it (or allowed it to be) enjoyable, brought on some new young members and facilitated a virtuous circle.
I fundamentally disagree with those who say it's solely up to individual team members to create their own "practice" opportunities. TEAMS should help develop their current AND FUTURE members. And I put "practice" in inverted commas because it is not, in and of itself, necessarily useful.
What you want is TRAINING. Give it a point and more people will be interested. The point should always be about learning something or developing a skill or skills. Ideally while having fun, wihch team environments lend themselves to.
Good luck. Go for it - just try and avoid beating us please when you do.
