belated hello from the United States

#1 Post by wfd1380 »

After I made my first post on Sunday, I had an invitation to introduce myself here. I had a 24 hour shift at the fire station Monday and so I am just now getting a chance to say hello. I live near Wooster, Ohio in the United States. I work as a firefighter there. I collect military rifles and pistols from WW I and II. I have one Lee-Enfield Mark III* and three Webleys. I also do my own reloading to keep costs down. I am currently looking for information on Israeli Mauser's in the long side rail sniper configuration. I am trying to determine if the Israeli's actually ever made such a beast.

If you are going to come on here with stories about the fun you have with pistols, the competitions you do with self loading rifles you had better post some pictures!

Hi and welcome.

Re. the Yiddish Mauser -- yes they did ,I've got one ! It's an FN dated 1938 ,stamped 7.62 and various Israeli stamps on the barrel. LSR mount and a '60's S&B 4x scope.I'd post phos' but I still haven't figured how to on here ;¬((

Thanks for the additional description of your mauser Waterford103. I got your PM but could not reply since I do not have enough posts yet. My mauser is an FN with the Israeli rose on it. I believe these were made in 1950ish. Mine was rebarreled to 7.62. Mine has no IDF markings other than the standard proof marks. It has not had any cheek rest added. LSR mount is serial numbered to the rifle and looks very professionally done. It is very accurate at short ranges, but I have not been able to try it at any long ranges yet. Ammo here is very scarce as everyone is buying it up and putting it away for safe keeping.
