A late introduction and a question

Re: A late introduction and a question
All of the paper work is a pain in the arse, but it sounds like you're nearly there. There's two pieces of advice I can give you for when you have the home visit, the first is to put the kettle on and have biscuits at hand and the second is be prepared to justify what you've asked for. Depending who you speak to, justification isn't necessary, but in my experience it was. Entering an appropriate shooting competition for the specific calibre I requested was the way I justified my "wish list" and thankfully everything I asked for was granted. Anyway, I'm sure you'll be fine, but just to pass on a bit of experience.
I absolutely love my SMLE. Why have just a rifle when you can have a real piece of British history as well... The only problem is now I want a Lee Enfield No 4 T, a sniper K98 and a sniper Mosin Nagant?
What other rifles do you have in mind?
Cheers,
Craig.

Re: A late introduction and a question
Well folks,
It's time to start the clock, I managed to get around and see the referees today, their sorted and now my application is in the post.
Lets see just how quick Surrey police are.

Wouldn't it be funny if it turned up on April fools day....

I think it would put many constabulary's to shame! So what else is on your shopping list?

Re: A late introduction and a question
Currently on the wish list after the .22 bolt action is either a dedicated .22 black rifle or I was considering maybe going
for an AR style lower receiver with 2 uppers, .22 and a .223. Maybe something like a Spikes Tactical, don't know if my
funds would stretch to a Lantac but it's something to look into.
At some stage probably sooner then later a SMLE like yours. As for a LBP I'm not so sure at the moment, I'm not a great
lover of the Colt 1911 clones, would much prefer a Glock in .22, you can get .22 kits for them in the USA but it's getting
hold of a UK legal version is the problem.
As for the .308/7.62 I'm not to sure at the moment, going to keep that slot open until I can figure out just which disciplines
I'm going to enjoy more.
Whats next on your shopping list?

Re: A late introduction and a question
Hi Mark,
I have a billet Spike's Tactical 22 with a BAR rail, Catch-22 BHOA, MIAD grip and a magpul UBR stock en route and I have to say I can't wait for it to get here. I really like them and assuming I don't have any problems with the .22, I'll probably buy a .223 upper for it. I don't know if you've seen the build quality on the billet uppers and lowers, but I think they're stunning.
Having said that, the forged ST-22's are really nice as well and pretty reasonably priced if you ask me. Something you might want to consider for your .223/5.56 straight pull and .22 semi-auto choice, could be an LMT 223 SS (£1,700) with .22 conversion barrel and bolt (£400). If I hadn't set my heart on a ST-22, I probably would have bought one of these.
A .22 Glock would be lovely, but I don't fancy your chances because even with a .22 conversion kit, the barrel would still have to be 12" and I haven't seen anything like that before. If you find one though, let me know please! I like the 1911, it's a classic design IMO.
Yeh I'm struggling with my 2 x .308/7.62 slots as well. I'm still toing and froing between an LMT LM7 or a Dolphin Gun AX308, although I'm pretty sure I want a 7.62x54R Mosin Nagant Sniper either way. I still need to check with my FEO if my 7.62 slot implicitly relates to 7.62x51 or not. I would have ordered the AX308 because it's stunning, but I'm not sure I'm ready to commit to a rifle where the barrel needs replacing every 2-3 years.
My shopping list changes on a daily basis, but as of just now, this is what I'd like to fill my cabinet with:-
Current Slots:
.22 Anschutz Match 54
.22 Spikes Tactical ST-22 *
.223 Saiga AK-10X or Spikes Tactical Upper
.303 SMLE * to be replaced with No 4 T 303 sniper at some point.
7.62x54R Mosin Pem Nagant 91/30 sniper
7.62/.308 Dolphin Gun Company AX308 or LMT LM7
Future Variations:
7.92x57 K98 Sniper
.44 Marlin Under Lever
.45 ACP LBP
* - Already ordered/received
Cheers,
Craig.

Here's a nice pic of the LM 223 SS.
And the elder brother LM7.

I think I might have solved my 7.62/.308 dilemma... The DSR-Precision DSR1 would foot the bill!
There's a second hand one here.

Umm.. LMT... that's just gun porn.
Your giving me to many expensive ideas, but I love it.
I've looked at the Spikes range and I like them so you'll have to let us know how yours performs, I'm sure it's
going to feel good and handle well. I visited the Lantac stand during the shooting show, the quality of their
engineering was superb, very impressed. But I wonder how their .223 stands up to the LMT equivalent?
