I'm planning to shoot the Weekend Agg but no more. Time's not a problem, but the money certainly is. Taking into account food, accom and beer (!) as well as entry fees, the full week is beginning to look a wee bit uneconomic.
Gaz feel free to crash the other pod in my tent as have rented my van room in fav of camping, party action & fun (on Karen’s door step so bring the bigger set of drums this time pls)................
No charge just bring beer. & more beer ........ & a bottle of scotch too.....
Need to think of this years fun 'thang' we have done paddling pool with solar fountain, generator coupled to a tumble dryer, a Trebuchet to lob water bombs over to the butt markers, 2 stage water rockets, the massive BBQ & party, hammocks in the trees,.......thinks.......haven’t done 2Kw disco set yet? Hm?.... & genny does 2.6Kw so there is some ergs left for lights too? How about the Bisley rave on Sgts mess field? ......................Sat night?
clapclap :shakeshout: party2
Quality control of Scottish Ethanol. & RDX/HMX
& my fav chemical is :-) 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine.......... used to kill frogs.... but widely consumed & in vast quantities by the French? Eh?
"I have spoken to a number of people recently who include GB Palma shooters who have said that the Imperial Meeting has become unaffordable and now they will either no longer be taking part or will be having to compete every other year (or generally winding down their levels of shooting which is my scenario).
The Imperial Meeting and shooting in general has now become only affordable by those more affluent (over £1.00 per bullet) and as such is in danger of becoming a sport that is going to reduce in numbers significantly - in fact we are already seeing this! I have huge concerns over the life span of the NRA as the 'fishing' has and continues to be from the same pool of money and as such prices have to increase. The problem is, unlike most product price rises in other business' the product of 'Bisley Ranges' seems to be inferior to the previous year each year, (facilities, butt markers etc).
The reason why I have put this petition together is I am fed up of people saying they are not able to shoot and additionally don't feel like they have a voice to challenge the NRA as suggestions in the past (for example competitor marking come backs) have been quashed and not taken seriously.
If like me you are struggling to afford the sport you love (I am having to very seriously consider giving up) then I implore you to sign the petition. It costs nothing but your time.
Bullet Bitten and entry made. Pre-Grand and Grand Agg £499.10 oouuuchhh!
Any more rises and I will have to think hard about entering the full meeting next year. I know that a lot of shooters are saying that they will only be shooting Queens and Georges.
The NRA really needs to rethink its pricing on the Imperial.
Confucius say 'Man only as old as the woman he feels'.......am looking for a 25 year old..........but don’t tell the wife as she claims to be 21 all the time.........
Am going to enter everything but Queens, Georges, no sweeps or aggs.
Just need a 2Kw sound rig............... Brunel can you ask Rave Soc?
.....n why does the early entry draw close after the open day so those of us who want to use vouchers cant?!?

Why everything but? The Queen's and George's are the best value for money - get through the first stage and you get a free shoot, or even two, apart from any prize you may win. And if you don't enter those two, your Grand Aggregate is incomplete, and that's the one that ranks you against eveyone else.
Iain (entering his 34th meeting and his 33rd Grand Agg)
Target, marker, range staff, stats, other admin, prizes, ammunition.
£499 buys 16 competitions including 18 individual shoots over 6 1/2 days. Also all costs of second and third stages of the three multi-stage competitions amongst those 16. Also all costs for the Chairman's prize (O and T class championships) if eligible.
Additional £139 to make £638 buys entry to about 24 aggregates comprising various combinations of the above 16 competitions.

Hi Iain, thanks for that it's very interesting though to me it still seems a bit pricey. I take it all the range staff, butts staff in fact everyone is paid for doing what they do. Attached is the format for the 2013 Camp Perry National rifle matches. As you can see, even if I were to enter every single rifle match it would still come in a lot cheaper than the Bisley shoots and the only thing folks there really supply is their own ammo which most folks prefer to do anyway.
While I understand that costs these days are high, it does seem to me on this side of the pond that the competition is out of reach financially for a lot of shooters and dare I say it if costs keep rising they could price themselves out of existence.
