First impression of this gun, for the money ($345 +tax) NICE. It came as 5+1 in a simple cardboard box marked CZ - USA (Made in Turkey) - at least it's not made in China.
http://www.cz-usa.com/products/view/612HC-P/ for the techie stuff.
Sights are ghost ring / fibre optic. Two red dots at the rear and a green dotted blade at the front, protected by a "wing arrangement". Also as standard is a Picatinny rail and ONE choke (cylinder bore) -c'mon CZ, they cost pennies in Turkey don't be so darn mean.
The red dots mounted either side of the ghost ring are too dark for my liking, Zombie luminous green would be MUCH better.
The furniture is plastic, as is the pistol grip. The decock lever is situated to the shooters left and forward of the trigger guard, like a Hatsan. Safety is a push bolt at the rear of trigger guard, like Hatsan etc.
Haven't weighted it yet but it is light and comes up very nicely (for my wee rotund stature and short arms) it's easily held on target with one hand whilst reloading. There is a rubber recoil pad fitted to the skinny stock but it is not ventilated, CZ take note, it would make shooting a bit more comfy if it were a bit spongey!
Took it to Caswells indoor range today, 20 meters max. Loading is straight forward, no wee buttons to hold. Loaded 5 + 1 and shot a leisurely 5 rounds of Cabella (HERTA) 28gr no 7 bird shot to get to grips. Cycled and ejected cleanly. paper target at 10 yards gained a large hole dead centre.
Moved a fresh target to 15 yards and did same with 5 rounds of Herter 00 Buck. A nice tight cluster of 9mm holes plus a few big ones where the wadding went through..HMM nice muzzle flash at times with that ammo.
Back to 15 yards with a fresh target, loaded some Herter rifles slug, 1oz doing about 1200FPS.. Shooting from leaning on the barrier, 3 shots almost on top of each other, nice considering I haven't shot shotgun for ages and got soft using 5.56. with an Aimpoint.
Moved target back to 20 yards and put more rounds on the same space unsupported - nice wee crinkle cut holes where the slug riffling cut through...
Back at 15 and a tactical zombie-shot done quickly (they really don't like that in indoor ranges at times) was spot on the money. did not move the sights any during this, all was shot "from the box".
No FTF / FTE / Stovepipes - not sure about how fast I can cycle it yet - the Hatsan Escort I know I can do 3 shots in 1.3s or 4 shots in 1.5s from low ready - and it has been timed electronically. I'll try check the CZ out for speed at the weekend.
So, quick sum up, it is rifle accurate out the box at those ranges using slug. I haven't shot better with slug in a shotgun I am familiar with like my Hatsan, let's put it that way.
I cannot really compare accuracy to my Hatsan pump or semi that I had as it those had after market Ghost rings fitted but I'd say it is better.
Off to try find a ventilated recoil pad (there's CZ Custom shop a mile from here) and maybe a slightly tighter choke for shooting bird / buckshot (not essential right now as we only use buck to 20 yards anyway).
It'll get a good going over at the weekend on a 2-day tactical shotgun course - open air range - hopefully some piccies and maybe video from that.
IMO is it worth the money - HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a steal! it will give Hatsan a run for its money in the UK, it should price about the same I reckon. Any dealers reading this: get some in!
Oh and why did I choose HERTA ammo? Well it is made by Sellier and Bellot apparently for Cabelas. It's cheap at $5.99 for 10 buck / under $60.00 for 250 shot and slug is about $7.99/10.- and it is pretty much all you can get right now in bulk! I tried some RIO 00 Buck but I can't see any difference.
For our US friends, it's a cracking home defence shotgun, 20" barrel and spot on sights right out the box. Herter slug and Herter ammo in general shoots just fine.

Aye well, now that you point it out. Once they realise how good it is you'll be ripped off big style..nowt new in rip-off UK!
Just back from the Custom Shop (NOT part of CZ) waste of fuel that was. The butt pad is sort of hollow but the edges either side are firm - in effect very little cushioning.
Sights are probably fine for outdoors but Trijicon, Meprolight or whoever should come up with night sights for it.

Zombie practice with the CZ: 2 shots top, 5 shots centre.

This wee $350.00 gun is the dogs bits, dogs b'olox, the cat's pyjamas, cats whiskers, cats meeow whatever.
Very good grouping of slug at 50 yards, all within centre mass area. 25 yard groups - cloverleaf style. cycles fast, it's still "not run" in but I reckon faster than a Hatsan.
Supposed to be speed drills tomorrow soon find out.

Re: CZ 612 HC-P
Two days of hard shotgunning and the wee gun worked flawlessly. Only gripes, the rail and rear sight assembly worked loose twice, a wee drop Loctite will sort that.
No feed / extraction issues although top loading is a bit footery as the lifter comes up quite high.
Tip, do not put your chapstick in the same pocket as your spare shells. DOH!!!!!!!!!! it does not load well.
