I've also heard some of my fellow club members mention that they've been told, by the police "That we can do what we want, so if you want guns, do as you're told".
You know, I wouldn't care what it took, I lived there and was told that, I'd do what ever it took to prove those people wrong. F*ck them and the horse they rode in on.

Really? Should that ever have happened, or indeed ever happens again, tell the officer concerned he better be prepared to explain his statement!

A new FEO, ex-police officer from another force, intimated as much to mate. My mate kicked him out of his house and got straight on the phone to the firearms manager. The new FEO apologised within the hour. And, he's never dealt with may mate even though he's on this FEO's patch. They send someone else!

An outrageous statement to make that should be challenged!

And yes, I'm a police officer and would expect to be challenged if I ever issued such a veiled threat.....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Personal experience with my local FEOs have been great, my first was brilliant and was extremely sad to hear when he died, the second, though not as good was still a good bloke and was helpful, don't know about the new one.

However the issue stems from the chief firearms officer. His opening statement to the liaison committee being along the lines of, I don't agree with gun ownership, only the police and armed forces should have guns,

That's not his remit and he needs to be reminded of that. His remit is to administer the licensing arrangements that allow individuals to conduct their lawful activity, whilst ensuring public safety. Both go hand in hand.

Failure to discharge his duty faithfully should see him answering for that...

I received a veiled threat once when I challenged the police as a club secretary once to the effect that my fac could become difficult if I didn't stop questioning them !

Firearms officers with an attitude like that need to be reminded of the law from time to time I think. BASC and NRA could do with sending some strongly worded letters on receipt of evidence of this...

Name and shame. I tend to find public sector workers very quickly back down from their hobby-horses once their personal crusades are made known to world+dog.

I've heard that from some of my Bristol based fellow club members. A&S have some strange policies that go way above and beyond HO guidelines.
Inventing and corrupting the law eh - or taking the law into their own hands!.

Only a moron would want "only police and military" to have guns. If only the police had guns then why would they need them, NO REASON whatsoever. As for the military, if we were not invading other countries like we do then why would the military need them, not as if we are going to be invaded Norman style is it.
Political Correctness is the language of lies, written by the corrupt , spoken by the inept!
