I'm sure ITV News' man on the ground just made the whole thing up for poos and tickles, as did everyone else who saw the chase go past them and posted about such.

Much gets lost in the telling and then more gets lost in the hearing, we are in a post modern world where reality, accuracy and truth are now totally subjective commodities that means the odd media item that may have elements of honesty, integrity and honour gets lost amongst the faeces, thus the media thrives on meaningless words.

Dromia, very prosaic but spot on. truth is not wanted nowadays, people want to be told what they want to hear.

On the news this morning it had turned into a "Machine Gun"!

Why did kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

God loves stupid people, that is why he made so many of them.

To quote one of our great anti gun activists.

" What is a maching gun? Why that is a gun with a machine in it"

" We need to ban high capacity magazine clips. They have high power and are full of bullets. If new magazines are banned from sale, all the bullets would be used up, and then they can cause no more damage."

"Darren Burn, an ITV News journalist who was in the pub at the time of the incident, said: "I was having a quiet drink with my uncle and a friend when we heard tyres screech then saw a man with a gun." Burn, who lives in London, said the firearm looked like an AK47, although police were unable to confirm the type of weapon used. Police said a weapon was recovered and is being examined to determine whether it was a real firearm or an imitation."

Well, that'll take them the best part of a week, no doubt.

If that is the gun in the picture - I would not like to be too close with the way he is handling it.

Looks like the Police have managed to figure out what it is:

"Al-Fodday Fofanah, 30, was detained after running through a pub in Borough carrying what appeared to be an 'AK47' rifle. He is accused of attempting to raid two banks - Santander on Walworth Road and a branch of Barclays in Borough. He is also charged with two counts of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit robbery."

Could have been a de-ac, given that for legal purposes de-acs are treated as "realistic imitations."

De-acs are legally classified as 'deactivated firearms'; nothing more, nothing less.

There are 'Imitation Firearms' and 'Replica Imitation Firearms' as defined under VCRA but deacs are neither.
