Guess I'll have to have the barrel on my S1 SN shortened and re-threaded for half the cost of a brand new shotgun rather than looking for a S2 24" SN. Or just sell it, and buy another one :-|

Our firearms laws are retarded :(
Isn't a 24 inch barrel still S2?

Sure is... but apparently you can't just swap barrels between a S1 and S2 shotgun!? (I don't understand *why* but if it's the law, it's the law)

I'm going to drop my firearms team an email, see what they say! Will update you all with any useful information

How would anyone know if you switched them ?

Benelli barrel numbers do not match the serial number stamped on the gun anyway.

wtfwtf

Why don't you sell your 28" barrel & just order a new 24" it would probably be cheaper than a barrel chop & better in the long run.

I had a barrel shortened on a browning gold once & teague chokes fitted, the job they did was fine but I just never liked it much & the thin walled chokes they fitted were a pain to keep tight & also to get out because the key was tapered & only gripped the choke using friction, there were no notches in the chokes that you would expect a key to lock into.

New barrel for an M2 is around £530....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I had a quote from Saddery and Gunroom for a new 24" barrel, and they quoted me £300. For £200 more I could get a S2 supernova..hence the original question :)

That price is for a Supernova barrel, not an M2 barrel...
