One of my aims in having a go at this is to try and recruit some more young blood into the local clubs as most have an average age of about 60!

Me too as it wont be that long before I'm in that age bracket

& my kids are now of an age where they can learn & participate as well. So my attitude is invite their scout troop along too (& some of their mates) & use those 12 club guest days even if only 2 or 3 show up.
...... & I have sent work colleagues with their kids to clubs nearer their home only to hear they loved it but didn't think hanging out with a bunch of middle age blokes is what an 16year old really wants to do? So we have deliberately gone for a wide age range.
go for it .......... & make it fun:
- 177 air rifle at shot gun shells on a plank - time to knock them off or in relay teams to knock them off in a color sequence.
Air field target: spinners knock downs etc.
Shoot thru the hole in Polos (yes it can be done) at 25yds.
Eccentric targets.
Luck numbers
Angry Birds.
Timed 5 shot groups.
10 bulls in odd sequences.
Skirmishers.
But think before you go 'non PC' & get them shooting at targets representing animals, zombies, Fig11, Humans etc as no civil youth group allows it.
Quality control of Scottish Ethanol. & RDX/HMX
& my fav chemical is :-) 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine.......... used to kill frogs.... but widely consumed & in vast quantities by the French? Eh?
