Double Welsh Success
Many congrats to Henryk Golaszewski of Wales and GB on winning the Canadian Govenor General's prize (the Canadian equivalent of the Queen's Prize) at the DCRA Meeting, wrapping up a successful tour for GB who won all 3 team matches. Young Henryk, winning his first GB cap, brushed aside the leader after 800m (Steph Ward, also GB & Wales) to finish with a perfect 300, 3 points clear of the next competitor. Incredibly his 900m scorecard recorded a 75.0.
GazMorris won both the Welsh Open and the Welsh Championship with a superb 403 ex 405 – just 2 points off, over a Queen's I, II, III course of fire, cementing his grip on the top spot in Welsh TR and securing a qualifying score for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games next year.

Wow, look at that score card, who says you need V's to win? Nice one Henryk. Also very well done to Gaz Morris for securing a spot in the Commonwealth Games next year.
This does of course leave one question unanswered...

Proof, if ever it were requried, that points make prizes.ovenpaa wrote:who says you need V's to win?
The qualifying score is an important requirement in our selection process (which Gaz achieved in style), but the trials aren't quite over yet so we won't know the pair until the fat lady sings.ovenpaa wrote:Also very well done to Gaz Morris for securing a spot in the Commonwealth Games next year.

And Wales won the GR Home Countries match at The Nationals too!
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!
Re: Double Welsh Success
That's incredible! - you couldn't do that if you tried...even shooting badly you usually get 1 or 2 Vs...
I'm very pleased for GazM :goodjob: ...someone at the top of their game who still takes the time to help those at the bottom tongueout

Re: Double Welsh Success
Not only an impossible possible, but in the best place to have one too! Good shooting.
Re: Double Welsh Success
For those who don't know Henryk, he's a volunteer who helps to run the shooting at an air cadet unit in Cardiff (one of his 15-year old cadets made the Queen's Final this year) and a top bloke to boot.ovenpaa wrote:Wow, look at that score card, who says you need V's to win? Nice one Henryk.
Thanks Ovenpaa, but as Bob points out the qualification score just means that I'm eligible to be sent, but I've still got to come in the top 2 in the trials for my nomination as one of the pair to go ahead!ovenpaa wrote:Also very well done to Gaz Morris for securing a spot in the Commonwealth Games next year.
Seeing as Rox is staying schtum, he managed a very creditable 6th in the Open Championship and 3rd in the Closed Championship; however he lost two points in the Queen's I 600x shoot to a fogged eagle eye which may well have cost him 2nd place in the Open and Closed (as well as meeeting the qualification score.)ovenpaa wrote:This does of course leave one question unanswered...
