Section 1 shotguns for PSG

Still baffles me; the overall length restrictions on shotguns vs rifles.

My theory is its something to do with preventing there use in home defence, rifles are either low powered (.22lr) or manually operated where as shotguns can be both high powered and reasonably quick to operate (semi auto or even pump)

Short barrels are not the bee all and end all,

Look at most 3 gun shooters with 21" guns and mag tubes that extend right out defeating the point of a short barrel.
When having a play I found the 24" was fine

I know, I wonder what experience with Pump or Semi auto shotguns whoever wrote the 1988 legislation had.
