Practical shotgun practice

#1 Post by paxtond »

As above I'm looking for somewhere I can practice on my days off during the week.

I'm looking for somewhere I can pitch up with a friend and just get some practice.

Do Bisley do this or can come body recommend a range

Thanks

The only place at Bisley you could do this is Butt Zero, which is currently £67 for half a day to hire (will drop a bit from November). If a few people get together to share the cost, it makes it affordable. You would need to be an NRA member to hire it though.

The price isn't to much of a issue.

What targets do bisley supply with the range?

Target frames are available for any paper targets you want to bring but they don't have any steels, so you'd have to bring your own if you wanted to do anything like that. TBH if we could get a few like-minded people together and make/borrow some steels, it would be very useful to arrange a couple of practice days down there because there aren't many places around here you can get mid-week practice.

Ahh ok, I could have some small steels made but not knock down targets.

I would be more than happy to share the range with some people in order to reduce costs and make the day abit more fun.

Can we shoot slugs on butt zero?

I would be up for a bit of practice with slug at Bisley.

Yes, slug, buckshot, birdshot, .22, gallery rifle, pretty much anything goes. You can get a lot done on Butt Zero...

Where are you located, is Shield near Dorchester (Dorset) too far away as you can practice there everyday.

The NRA does have some steel practice targets for shotgun but they only come out for NRA events at the moment. If there was a demand for them and people agreed ( and could be trusted) to only shoot them with the specified ammuniton types then they could be rented out with the range.
The question is would you pay for it in addition to the range hire, and if so how much?

If you intend to use your own steels then you need to get permission and make it clear that you are doing so when you book the range.

I would be happy to pay and hire some if the NRA made that a option
