The 200 yard course of fire the NRA put on at most gallery rifle comps is very good.
On fig 11 target:
10 rounds prone in 5(?) minutes and 10 rounds prone in one minute.
Same again from kneeling. 40 rounds total.
We do this as a club comp each year.
Easy to run and easy to mark and no running!!

"Service Rifle" is an NRA competitive discipline. It is shot with the Service rifle as issued to HM Forces.

All of the NRA courses of fire for Service Rifle as described in the Bisley Bible are based on the matches that were shot when the No1 and No4 were the issued rifles. The only real differences are that some of the timings have been reduced to cater for self loading rifles and some of the targets have changed.

There's a few good comps for classics at the gallery rifle meetings; I tried one at the last Phoenix where you shoot standing at 100, kneeling at 200 and prone at 300, which was pretty good fun...

That's interesting; they have quite an active and varied shooting schedule, and I wouldn't mind giving CSR a try with the SMLE too...actually when you look at it, there's a lot of options for classic rifle shooting...

I went along to a CSR shoot last year and shot in the Enfield section. Must scrape some pennies (and a serviceable rifle!) together and do it again, was good fun.

Yes I remember you posting about it...sounded good - I really can't take on anymore new disciplines for a while; but if you're going again for fun at any point let me know...

...I'm feeling for the CSR guys right now...it must be quite a wade between points!

Don't worry too much, the drainage on Century has been significantly improved; it's not perfect yet but it's no longer a complete bog.
