Pecar scope Period ?

#1 Post by froggy »

Hallo,

Could somebody have a look and try to guess the date of this Pecar scope ad ?

The angular scopes bodies look very 40's but there is a proper elevation turret not the disk stoped by a screw.
Also there is a turret for windage . Any idea when Pecar introduce this feature on its scopes ?

Thanks,

My guess would be late sixties to early seventies.

From the elevation/windage adjusting sytem/knobs, this scope should be even earlier than the ad I posted ?
The scope bears unfortunatly no serial numbers...
Dont know how reliable that info is, but an internet "expert" claims that Pecar started putting serial numbers only in the late 40's ?

There is a reference or two in the April 1956 edition of 'Guns' magazine which lists the scopes in your picture. I have the whole magazine on pdf if you would like a copy.

1956 ? The scopes in the ad ?
or the 4x81 Mdl in the photos ?
which, from the type of turrets, I think is little anterior ?

The VII-S scope is the model that was fitted to Enfield Enforcer rifles in the mid-1970s.

The scopes in the add (post #1) are I think the same as in the '56 magazine ad. If you want the pdf can you pm your email and I will forward it on to you. The whole magazine makes interesting reading and is very non pc by todays standards :good:
