Next build quality Lantac probably slightly ahead of the other two.

Given that AR-15s are modular and customers can select from a huge variety of component parts, how are you measuring the 'build quality' of the supplier?

Am Basing this on the quality of the parts anodised upper thick walled and well finished lower reciever again solid and well built handguard again well finished. Not saying the other two arent and its fairly hard to choose between the three well the two. I Only own one southern gun rifle a 9mm lever release. Bob does a superb job but how long it stays there when in for service or how long when waiting for a new rifle is sometimes a while

How does Lantac kit compare to the rivals (Southern Gun and Bradley arms)? Who are the other big players these days?

I have a LanTac TCR, it’s a great rifle and I’m very pleased with it. Customer Service is excellent, when the rifle was first delivered the extractor pin was missing and the rifle would not function correctly, this was resolved by LanTac after sending the bolt back to them. The German made parts are of very good quality and I like the fit and finish of the TCR. The barrel took a little while to settle down but, as the barrel manufacturer has stated on there website, best accuracy was achieved after about 500 rounds but the rifle now shoots very nice 0.782 groups at 100 yards with handloads. The trigger supplied was a standard miltary type and was replaced with a lighter two stage suitable for CSR.

I have a Lantac Raven TCR too.

I bought it after making enquires among all of the builders, those that were prepared to speak to me anyway.

Lantac's customer service is second to none, when I said I had my own grip and stock Paul was happy to take delivery from my supplier and assemble for me.

The quality of anodising on the upper receiver is also excellent, as other makers of side chargers only paint them.

Would you except a rusty Ferrari just because it went fast and handled well. Why shouldn't every part of a firearm be to the level you expect?

I have had a part missing on a bmw and an Audi,annoying that it wasn't there, but how happy I am depends on how quickly the issue is resolved. And quality that effects actual shooting performance so function over style is what we're on about here. Well when it's my money I'm spending it best be a damn good finish and function faultlessly. If I'm being issued it from the armoury then I don't care what it looks like as long as it works.

I'd be more inclined to judge build quality based on whether or not the parts used to assemble the rifle are as close to mil-spec (as far as UK section 1 will allow), i.e. are they using standard drop-in parts, or components that look like AR parts but are actually slightly out of spec, and therefore not interchangeable with off the shelf replacements. Who wants to be dependent on the original assembler/builder of the rifle for the life of the rifle.

Lantac and Bradley arms are milspec uppers and lowers(JMH correct me if im wrong). Southern gun are Bob spec as far as im aware and there have been issues swapping uppers and lowers.
