.17hmr range

#1 Post by zzr1100 »

I've applied for a variation for .17hmr ... Now I know that a .22 can be dangerous at up to 1.5km .. But what about the .17hmr ?

I've had one for 9 years now, remmington seem the best for my cz, at 200 on short Siberia aim at where black circle meets the white back ground and you should find it goes v bull each time , so it drops like an a4 page over 200 m not bad.....u can get 20 gn fmj from cci which is what I used....wind does affect them the further out you push them, for rabbits it makes no difference the noise will send all but the one you shot it the hedge...rabbits one shot stop, Fox is a whole not her argument personally unless it was 10m away I would not use it on fox....i usually take rabbits at 50-70 meters free standing I have shot them resting on farm walls from 250m but that's not the norm...out in a muddy field I don't wanna be getting in the cowshit so I take rabbits freestanding closer the better! Me and me mate tale turns on the lamp.....as those gun mounted lamps are dangerous and should never be allowed....any questions I'm happy try and help......

Why so? Over here folks use the 17 HMR to take down wild pigs, one round behind the ear and it's lights out. There are quite a few videos on Youtube of folks taking down both pigs and coyotes with a 17HMR. I think it's a brilliant little round, I watched a video of a guy taking down a large wild sow and her piglets with a 17HMR.

Blu ile just remind you that a .270 minimum caliber exist here for wild boar........u wanna take down animals with an inappropriate caliber then u go ahead......i have a high moral compass when it comes to this subject, and I will not be unfazed or get into any online debate about it....

The main issue I face is this ... The permission I've just got is not only overrun with foxes but quite flat and therefore not safe for a centrefire ... Looking for a firearm to deal with a fox that's out of buckshot range !!

.223 and a high chair......you will regret shooting a fox with a .17 after you see it run off or writh round in agony until you can run over to it and finish him off.......i say .223 for the variety available but the triple 2 is supposed to be the best fox round in the uk....
