Recommend a gun safe

#1 Post by meles meles »

Can anyone recommend a good gun safe ? We're adding to the sett arsenal and so need (yet another) safe. Ideally we'd like one with large capacity and able to hold scoped rifles. We currently have two Brattonsound 9 rifle safes and a Pioneer 11 rifle safe though all of these only hold their stated capacity if we remove the dividers and stand some of the rifles muzzle down.

I'll "look after"some of your "surplus" rifles mate. It's the least I could do.

Badger, all rifle/shotgun safes capacities are rated on Over & Under shotguns, no bits sticking out the sides, no scopes with large turrets or bipods etc.

Rule 1. Always get one at least twice as big than you think you need :good:

Rule 2. Rule 1 usually lasts for a year or two at best and you'll need another one :squirrel:

I have Brattonsound and Buffalo River safes, the Buffalo River is a 10 gun silver line http://www.guncabinetsdirect.co.uk/Buff ... wwoddA8AZg

If you're using scoped rifles make sure you get one at least 350mm deep.

There's a post on The Stalking Directory by a member who gets Buffalo River safes a fair bit cheaper then the usual outlets, http://www.thestalkingdirectory.co.uk/s ... afes/page5 May be worth dropping him a PM and seeing what he can get hold of :good:

Increasing guns safes come to a point of diminishing returns and a gun room should be considered. As the cost of an increasing number of gun safes approaches the cost of making a gun room.

Best thing I ever did for me, my firearms and their security.

We currently have 3 larges safes for guns and two medium safes for the associated canned bangs and bolts. Maybe Dromia has the the best suggestion and we should just stick a big steel door on a room with solid walls and steel plate the roof and floor...

You don't need to steel plate it, 1" steel mesh is all you need. The floor only needs doing if it has room underneath.

Look at the HO guidance on security there should be a link in the library.

Oh indeedy, but it doesn't say which guns they come equipped with. Fine H&H double rifles we assume...
