Not having the gun or manual on me I've had to make some rough workings out based on Beretta's own site and the size of the actual ARX160, (Beretta's site does only has the fully extended length)
It seems to be I could cut it down from an 18" barrel to a 16"
Overall length of the Original ARX is 29.72" with the stock folded, the .22 version from what I've worked out is 2" shorter making it 27.72", so the most I could take off it 3" making it an odd size barrel, sadly the hope of making it a proper carbine with a 12" barrel are out of the question, but when I'm next in Bristol I'll measure it properly.
Re: Beretta ARX160
Permanently attaching the flash hider " shortens " the barrel further....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: Beretta ARX160
Now that is a GREAT idea, the flash hider currently on there is pinned in place from what I recall, when I can I'll measure and see if the 18" barrel length includes it or not.

Update just for you Sim.
Neal of Suffolk Rifle Co. has shortened his to a 15" barrel with a threaded barrel, he's checking for me but reckons it will pass with a 12" (inc flash hider) for what I feel is a reasonable price for the job.
That would mean I could make it look like the carbine variant.

Re: Beretta ARX160
Most likely, I have around a year to have a think as it wont be until then that I could justify the extra expense.
I do think it would make it a bit better for some mini rifle competitions.

If that's the look you were going for Sim then I would have though longer would be better
Re: Beretta ARX160
Very nice rifle pal, the rifles look even better with the shorter barrel, but I read something recently that a 16'' barrel is the optimum length for accuracy, and while ive been looking on a load of sights for a rifle, the guns with 16'' barrels seem to be dearer than the rest, like ive said before im new to all this, so im trying to learn as I go.
