Disturbed foresight iris, can it be fixed?

#1 Post by Gaz »

I have a Centra adjustable foresight for my target rifle. While cleaning the rifle yesterday I accidentally poked it with my finger and disturbed the iris. Now it's no longer circular as the ring inside it (think camera lens type arrangement) is no longer a true circle as the elements have been disturbed.

I took it into Fultons and they said "can't do anything with it, just throw it away and buy yourself a new one". Which is all very well but I don't treat £110 components as disposable!

Has anyone done anything like this before and can it be fixed? I'm thinking perhaps a camera shop might be able to do something with it...

Email Centra to see what they'd charge to fix it

With labour costs as they are these days, I'll stick my neck out and guess that it won't be economically viable to repair the iris.

Can you pick one up second hand?

Gaz, I had a Centra variable sight that became very easily 'adjusted'.

I emailed Centra direct. They requested it returned. They repaired and serviced it - FOC!!

Try them. I think Ian Shira-Gibb at Ten Ring at the back of Fultons is an agent but not sure if he'll do returns

No answer from either of Centra's email addresses. Guess I'll be looking for a camera shop then.

Try Ten Ring, Ian Shira-Gibb. (Back of Fultons block). I'm sure he's an agent.
