There's nothing "suspect", "dubious" or "anti-social" about it whatsoever (the back button works fine on Firefox & Chrome on Windows & Android & on Internet Explorer - there's nothing to stop navigating away - suggest you look at what's wrong with your computer before blaming other's content). I take as I find, I use Firefox and all else works well other than that page that is my experience with my PC, my laptop and the my wifes laptop so I still say it is suspect and still advise not using it
Mind you if I'd known it was facebook from the original link I wouldn't have clicked it anyway, something suspect and dubious about hiding the url as well.

Its not suspect - its a genuine way of making long links short for use on social media. I use it often for the work Twitter pages.
Have spent nearly all day following the action on Twitter and Facebook who have done a FAR better job than the BBC and I couldn't care less if you GOM don't like social media as I want to follow my friends in one of the most important events of their lives and Twitter and Facebook are the ONLY way I can do it!
