Which AR15 to buy

Re: Which AR15 to buy
Talked myself into buying one of these. MOE version chopped to 12.5" and hardy reflex mod that hardly adds any extra length. Added a plinker tactical Ambidextrous charging handle and BAD ASS ambi selector.
Just refining the trigger, with JP spring kit and a little polishing on engagement surfaces.

I have a Spikes and it's a very nice gun, but for the money and if I were to buy one today I would get the S&W.
Re: Which AR15 to buy
After initially wanting a S&W, a couple of guys at my local club put me off and I opted for the Colt M4. Very, very happy with it. Feels 'proper', and I use CCI minimags in it and have not had a single jam or misfire. No regrets whatsoever with it.

Like the S&W it's a proper training tool and designed to feel and handle just like its bigger brother. I guess the amount of go-fast bits available is much less though.
Black dog magazines is the problem.
Changed out the followers and the Sig now eats anything and runs like a trooper. Also picked up one of the new Lantac mags but still have to try it out.
The Sig is good kit and well put together.

Re: Which AR15 to buy
I bought a MP15-22 for practical competitions / practice nights as I wanted a reliable rifle that would function 99.9% of the time. After firing approx 3000-3500 rounds through it I can report 2 FTF's (and one of those was caused by my thumb blocking the load assist button). Its fired CCI mini-mags, CCI standard, Blazer, RWS semi auto, even had Thunderbolts stuck though it by someone trying it out - all without issue. Compare this to the two guys who have CMMG rifles at our club; one of them has 4-5 FTF a night (bad news when running practical courses of fire under a stopwatch) and the other guys rifle was so bad he sent it back. CMMG rifles definitely look the part though, a lot better than the 15-22's.
Here's my S&W MP15-22

Re: Which AR15 to buy
I got mine from Neil over at Suffolk Rifles. He sells a 12" compact model, basically a normal length model that he has professionally shortened, recrowned, proofed etc. I think he'll even swap a normal length barrel for a shortened one if you have the standard length MP15-22 and want something shorter.techguy wrote:Nice looking 15-22 Tomo, have you had the barrel chopped?
