Its a copy of the AAC 51T - stuck on purely for weight purposes as I like a front heavy rifle (plus I think it looks nicer than the A2 birdcage that the rifle came with!!)

I bought a MP15-22 for practical competitions / practice nights as I wanted a reliable rifle that would function 99.9% of the time. After firing approx 3000-3500 rounds through it I can report 2 FTF's (and one of those was caused by my thumb blocking the load assist button). Its fired CCI mini-mags, CCI standard, Blazer, RWS semi auto, even had Thunderbolts stuck though it by someone trying it out - all without issue. Compare this to the two guys who have CMMG rifles at our club; one of them has 4-5 FTF a night (bad news when running practical courses of fire under a stopwatch) and the other guys rifle was so bad he sent it back. CMMG rifles definitely look the part though, a lot better than the 15-22's.

What I've found with my CMMG is that it likes to run wet (oooer).

Keep the bolt and associated parts well lubed and they run just fine (circa 2500 rounds now with no FTF or misfeeds whatsoever) - before I ran it wet mine was as bad as the ones your two guys have.

My CMMG is the opposite

I clean it with CLP and wipe off the excess. Too much oil in the firing pin channel will cause a gunk build up, and eventually snap the firing pin. Ask me how I know

Haha - good to know! Though does that imply that you didn't clean it often enough? (ducks) ;-)

I'll pay attention to that area though, thanks for the info. I'm planning on cleaning mine every 500 rounds which is about once a month for me. I've had a look at the build up of crud and brass shavings and that seems about right for me. Incidentally, cleaning the lower on an AR15 (or even an L85 for that matter) always struck me as awkward, and seeing as I have an air compressor - I bought an air gun - the type that literally just blows air out, I use that to blow all the dry crud out first - makes cleaning it out much quicker for me needing less solvent and less crap left behind.

Sorry BB, missed this. Its a simple ali adapter I had made up, 1/2 X 28 UNEF to M14 CW

Those umarex and colt guns are good fun but you'll have trouble if you want to do anything fancy with them like swap triggers, foreends, barrels etc etc. Great plinkers though. The s&w is the cheapest "nearly" mil spec ar you can get in the uk and people like tacticool22 have lots of go faster bits for them too, I used to own one and they were great but I much prefer my cmmg.
