Just a short introductory post. I am a long time shooter and I specialise in vintage military rifles. My collection ranges from the paper cased chassepot through black powder to smokeless and stops at the WW1 (apart from a Mosin Nagant PU sniper & scoped K98). In all I load for 29 different calibres and I cast bullets for the majority of those. My main problem is getting enough range time but that should change early next year when I retire
I am fortunate to have an armoury so all my rifles are on display which is so much nicer than having them locked in a cabinet. Also helps with the loading as I have a lot of equipment to store.
Apart from actually shooting the rifles I like to understand how gunmakers/inventors overcame the major problems with ingenious but different ideas, comes from being an engineer I guess. So I also have a good range of books and try to get at least one for any new rifle.
One of the most interesting rifles I have is a M1822 tbis Tabatiere which started life as a flintlock musket, was converted to percussion, then rifled for Minie bullet and final converted to a centrefire breechloader - a rifle that has been through most of the major stages of firearm development.
Hopefully I can be of use to other members as my experience is quite wide although my accuracy is not always what I hope for.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!
