Over/Under Shot Guns

Hey Guys,

I looked at a couple of used O/U shotguns this weekend but one thing I did notice was that when I broke them down a couple of the barrels were scratched/marked by where the receiver when opened meets/taps the barrels.

Sorry if this is normal as I am still a total noob to shotguns.

Without seeing exactly what you mean it's hard to say, but I would hazard a guess that it's totally normal. Whenever two metallic parts come into contact there is always the likelihood that scratches/fit marks will result.

That's what I thought too, but wanted to check.

My silver pigeon shows wear in the breech area, although the metal isn't blued in that area (it's sort of brushed/ some type of finish applied) but you're always going to get wear there. Most O/U are working guns so unless it's been pampered expect to see more scratches and dings on it that you'd see on a range rifle
