We sometimes have O/U or SbS PSG shoots at my local place!breacher wrote:Ahhh, so you HAVE been to a CSR shoot then !Blackstuff wrote:My comment was a reply to Oldskools question, not a personal opinion on the subject, people can wear digital camo mankinis for all i care! I would've thought the sarky video might have given that away
I regularly wear realtree camo to go shooting in during the winter as its warm and waterproof. The only shooting i wouldn't wear it for is PSG as IPSC bans it because of the reason given above.
On a more serious note, I would never enter a comp where the organisers dictate what I can and cannot wear, for "politically correct" reasons. And if my club brought out such a rule, I would find another club.
If IPSC is so worried about public perception, why not go the whole hog and shoot their matches with side by side shotguns ?
The reason they give is that while the type of shooting IPSC presides over has its origins in police/military training, its evolved into a sport (series of sports) in its own right, therefore people participating should be dressed as sportsmen/women, not police/military (unless they are currently serving in which case they can wear uniforms).
On top of that there is the public relations side of it, but bear in mind that the I of IPSC stands for International, and the various disciplines/divisions are shot all over the world where there may be even less tolerance shown to shooters dressed in camo/black than in the UK.
