HK MP5 A4 12/24 rule

I was wondering what you guys think about this idea, so here goes.
I'm thinking, is it was worth trying to get hold of an original HK sliding stock from a HK MP5 SD6 or A5 as I know they're usually swapped for the solid stock of the A4 after purchase mostly because they are so shockingly unstable and slack and it is difficult to get a good cheek weld with one.
I would like to make it uncollapsable by perhaps welding or riveting a steal frame on the inside of one to make it impossible to slide it closed. This to my mind would still retain the look of the sliding stock but obviously make it a solid stock.

Anyone have any ideas as to whether this would be acceptable with the 12/24 rule and if so has anyone got one for sale..

I'll gauge what the general consensus is and if you think it's a bit of a "sticky wicket" I'll knock the idea on the head.

You never know someone out there may have already done this to one....

If you weld the frame so it cannot come off and still be shot then I cannot see the problem.

However, it is your license at stake, make sure it is OK before you do it.

It's exactly the same I guess, but obviously before pursuing the concept I'll have to have a chat with my local FEO but I'm interested to hear what you guys think before it gets to that stage.

According to my sums, you wouldn't be far off the 12/24 if you just fitted the A5 buttstock anyway...

A4 - Barrel 31cm, overall length 75cm
A5 - Barrel 41cm, overall length (retracted) 67cm (extended) 82.5cm

So an A5 buttstock on an A4 would give you an overall length of 57cm, some 3cm too short. I would be tempted to install some spacers or collars on the rails to prevent it from retracting by 4cm to bring it into legal realms rather than weld it :)

I think they have some rule that if it retracts at all then it is discounted in the measurement of overall length. I don't mind it being fixed at it's full length, I'd never use a retracted one even if I could...far too short.
I would probably have an aluminium frame specially made and tig welded in between the rails at full length so it could never be retracted, ie fixed stock.

I would still be tempted personally to drill, tap and install blocks into the inlet rails in the receiver preventing the stock from collapsing. To appease an uneasy Firearms officer you could have it fitted with security head bolts. It's a more elegant, less destructive and ultimately reversible solution that appeals to my mild OCD :)

Personally i can't see the difference. They'd both be fixed stocks. Just make sure you do a good job on locking the stock which can't be easily undone.

Have you seen the UMP stocks people put on them, then it would be no different to a 10/22 with a folding stock which is legal.

You might find an airsoft one for a GSG might fit.
