Inrange TV testing WWII Exploding Ammunition

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

They say InRange is a collaborative project between Ian McCollum (Forgotten Weapons) and Karl Kasarda. After watching the gun program landscape of cable television decline into a wasteland of explosions and ginned-up drama, they decided to produce a show that would appeal the intelligent and sophisticated gun owners and gun enthusiasts worldwide.

I have been following Ian McCollum of Forgotten Weapons on Youtube for a quite a while now and his reviews are always well worth watching. He recently joined up with Karl Kasarda for a pay as you go programme however this was short lived and they are now with the guys at www.full30.com in addition Ian appears to be moving his YT videos across as well. The latest offering is a review testing WWII Exploding Ammunition and well worth viewing.

Followed F.W and Ian for quite a while too. Really informative and he knows his stuff- thoroughly enjoyed the exploding ammo video. It's noticeable amongst many Youtube channels the quality of the productions, information and the time invested in the videos.

I particularly enjoy F.W videos dealing with light artillery, it looks like a hoot to set one of those guns off!

Agreed, a hair cut would be a positive move forward for him! I surprised he's not worried about catching it in a luger toggle action...

Below is a sectioned PZ round, the small internal firing pin can clearly be seen.A more common use for these rounds was as an aircraft machine gun round and also as a spotting round, often used rather than tracer because you can clearly see where the round hits without the enemy seeing where it came from.

Vicious stuff, I like them was a bit sceptical during the first couple of tests but then they added a deeper test section and wow, I would not like to be on the wrong end of one of those things or even near the point of impact. Interesting that the Germans allowed it on the Eastern front however spare ammunition had to be handed back in if heading back to the West.

I'm a fan of FW as well; always a good level of understanding and never patronising.
