Remington 700/SA - plain wooden stock
As per this:
Have a project on the go to turn an early 80's BDL Varmint into a rough approximation of an M40.
MUST be plain as per the photo, no black inlay/tip in the forend, etc.

If you can turn yours into that, I'd be impressed....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Barrel on my Varmint is identical (24" o.a.l. & 0.83" @ the muzzle) except the BDL's are not parkerised.Sim G wrote:If you can turn yours into that, I'd be impressed....
Will keep the bluing on mine, but eventually have it clip slotted.
Redfield Jr base (modified)
Redfied Jr Rings
Redfield Accu Trac scope
Winchester pre-64 Model 70 trigger guard/floorplate (modified)
Wichita sling swivels (fixed)
Steel Rem700 recoil pad
...and some other junk I've forgotten right now.
Looks easy on a list - but I'll need to find a buyer for a kidney to fund it
Have a web search for the first Model 700 Police models. Almost identical (wooden stock, etc.)

Keep us posted how this turns out, sounds like a great project...
You going for a "well used" look, or factory fresh...
A well worn version would be badass!
Like a "relic" guitar, or a "rat-look" car...
I like the sound of the project...

Saw one on Ebay but on checking it's Numrich selling them, sorry.
Re: Remington 700/SA - plain wooden stock
Ta Blu - but that's sadly the Long Action stock
Numrich DO have a specific code number for the correct stock, but last time I looked they had none available.
The more correct stock was actually an ADL one, not a BDL...which explains the use of a modified Win 70 trigger guard/magazine floorplate (the USMC had just dropped the Model 70 so would have had suitable spares to hand to make fittings for the Rem 700's)
