Rob1 wrote:Hi all and thank you for the welcome from those that posted.

I have, read the rules and agreed to a " legally Binding ???" Set of points then sent a short resume as a request to join a forum that is for shooting enthusiasts.

I have looked at the adverts " nay! How dare he?? I hear you ask. Not had 15 posts yet and may be just trying to become a buyer / seller of illicit fare).

It seems that with one word I can cause such a stir without intention and even possibly offend people by use of that unmentionable word that is actually a correct turn of phrase.

I am not, by nature a confrontational man so I will in the spirit of the posted "rules" refrain from further comment on said infraction.

I am sure I will in short order be "binned" from the site as a dissenter in the ranks.

My intention was only to tap in to a valuable resource of knowledge as I build and expand my own knowledge as well as the invaluable network of like minded shooters in my local area, however I guess that will now not be.

A sad sad state of affairs

Thank you all one and all.

Rob. thankssign
None of it was meant personally Rob, so I wouldn't throw in the towel just yet.I get a bit of stick sometimes for my Russian leanings but you just give it back and get on with it as a bit of banter is worth the wealth of knowledge that is on this forum.........and I you do leave us so soon don't join some of the US shooting forums as some of those can really give a "limey" a bad time!.

Don't worry about it Rob, you'll soon learn the regular forum rants :-) Don't mention weapons, the NRA, the conservatives, the pistol ban, murrica etc ;-)
Welcome to the forum! It's not all that bad!

Well, will see. Some of the responses were sounding like a club I visited.

Yes you can join but as you shoot a discipline different to is you can only use the range when everyone else has shot.

Oh and then only after you have been vetted by ALL the committee members and done 6 month probation, had a police check and blah blah blah.

Strange that, as already had FAC and 2 rifles.... Needles to say I applied at a more welcoming club and surprise surprise was welcomed in.

Just saying..... If needling is part of it then that's fine, I definitely have a squaddie sense of humour and it can be dry and dark at times. I give as good as I get,

But, new starts usually get a little heads up and clearance before it's launched. :-)

Blue skies to all and clear butts when ready.

No need to take things to heart so, all that was done was that a chosen word was advised as being inappropriate for civilian shooting. I thought you said "Am still coming to terms with the many varied and oft confusing rules and regs around civilian weapon ownership". People were only trying to help not have a go at you, the rest of the post went its own usual tangential way which really had no direct bearing on anything you posted.

Still it is your choice whether you stay or go but sensitivity is always futile on such imperfect communication mechanisms as forums, add to that the human element and delicate souls will indeed flounder.

If Carlsberg made forums ;)

This forum is packed full of knowledgeable and excellent people with lots of different opinions and we are shooting all sorts of different disciplines.
One thing we have in common is that we are shooters and there is always someone willing to help, ask away and please join in the debates.

Ok. So wasn't taken to heart per se was just a bit aghast at how it seemed to draw the response.

Any way, what I was trying to say was HELLO to everyone. :-)

As for the ill thought out word, nuff said, and the rest as they say is history.

Now to see about the resources of information on offer.....

Too many to launch in to but I guess over the few weeks I will find and tap said feeds to gain what I seek, knowledge.

Lee Loaders being my first, a looking I shall go....

Not exactly how I thought my joining would go but hey ho live and learn
