New Member - Lancashire

#1 Post by beesleya09 »

Hi, I am a new member in the Fylde area of Lancashire looking for people in this sport around the local area to help better educate me in how to start in the sport, gain information about local clubs and perhaps if viable, open up opportunities for me to start shooting. I am almost 17 and realise that I am one of the very few younger generation wishing to take up shooting, I hope within the next year to apply for an FAC, specifically for a .303 Lee-Enfield as this is the type of weapon that interests me most, specifically due to the historical significance of the weapon. However, I am also a fan of all things firearms and would be willing to try out anything, whether it be .22 gallery rifles or black powder pistols.

Welcome to the forum. Good to see youngsters taking an interest in shooting. You should find a lot of useful information on here.

Welcome beesleya09

Good to see young people taking an interest. My kids and some of their friends are also keen, but there seem to be much less opportunity now for young people to try out the sport to see if they like it or not.
Who? Me? Really?

Hello everybody, thank-you for the warm welcome! Daman, I must agree with you that the opportunities to try out the sport seem to be relatively slim and that there should definitely be some sort of drive toward strengthening and increasing the popularity of shooting for the younger generations - however on the contrary I can understand why I am a part of a small minority, with the majority of parents either opposing or fearing guns due to their ridiculous depiction in media or due to a general misunderstanding of firearms laws, this combination in more recent decades seems to have made it more and more difficult to join such a sport. I'd be interested in spreading the sport to the younger generation (well,my generation..) if anybody has any ideas though.
