Re: Rich Wyatt Talks about America and Gun Ownership.
Who was talking about penknives? If I use (& have so used) a Gerber Mk.II to cut leather, is that now a tool for my job/work?
How about a Fairbairn Sykes knife? (I make a range of scabbards for these knives, so frequently have an F~S knife & several F~S scabbards with me for sales/demonstration purposes...)

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!

Two separate laws.
Offensive Weapons: You can't have anything made, adapted or intended as a weapon in a public place without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.
CJA S139: You can't have bladed or sharply pointed articles, except a [non-locking] folding pocket knife with a cutting edge of at most 3in, in a public place without lawful authority or good reason. (You have to show good reason to a balance of probabilities standard.)
It is possible for possession of an article to be in accordance with one of these but contravention of the other - you need to satisfy both.

20 series and nickb834 were talking about penknives, 'non locking folder under 3" ' is a penknife.saddler wrote:Who was talking about penknives? If I use (& have so used) a Gerber Mk.II to cut leather, is that now a tool for my job/work?

the good reasons you refered to do not relate to a penknife, which is what i said. as you do not need a good reason to carry a penknife. however, even though you dont need a reason, if you decided to give one to said policeman, and you said self defense, you would be commiting an offense, which is what i said.
up until that point, we had been referring to penknives, you said about reasons for carrying a knife IE not a penknife, thats what i was pointing out

Also - important to point out that the 3" rule CAN be read by some as the EDGE length, not the blade length.bradaz11 wrote:20 series and nickb834 were talking about penknives, 'non locking folder under 3" ' is a penknife.saddler wrote:Who was talking about penknives? I modified my main EDC knife accordingly by grinding some of the cutting edge off

Don't forget, you cannot take ANY knife, irrespective of design/length, into a sports stadium

This is the sad reality of what Britain has become today, we have effectively lost our right to proper self defence & our freedom of speech has been replaced by political correctness, especially with regard to the muslim extremism problem, it won't end well for many.

I loved the show. But he's deluded about civil defence.
We'd just end up with a lot more people shot if everyone carried guns for defence.

I thought Civil Defence did quite a good job during the Blitz
