BR99: tacky butt pad

#1 Post by Odd Job »

As others have mentioned before, the rubber butt pad on the BR99 stock is tacky. It is kind of sticky, and snags on clothing as you bring it up to shoulder.

I like the butt pad and I don't want to replace it (I wouldn't even know what other manufacturer's ad I could adapt to fit).

I would like to coat it with something so that it doesn't snag.

Any ideas?

Cut a shaped piece from your Teflon frying pan and nail* it to the butt ?

Dust it with talc?

Ok, you could cover the end with a bit of cloth, depends if it is tacky enough to hold the cloth there.

Or rub in some oil of some sort.

Or maybe buy a butt cover...

Google "how to sort sticky rubber with talc"

Make sure them off the shoulder numbers you wear are all off the shooting shoulder.

There's stuff you can add to the rubber to take the tackyness down a little.

The BR99 butt pad does benefit from being shaped slightly and a wipe over with silicon spray is by far the easiest option. You can fit after market butt pads however they can be a PITA to fit
