"UKPSA "
I am in the process of putting in for a variation and I have a "condition"which I think should be removed but don`t want to rock the boat too much as variations are done "very fast" in my area.
The condition is regarding Practical target shooting and it reads "over a course of fire approved by a qualified member of the UKPSA on land over which the holder has lawful authority to shoot"
I thought this was against the rules somewhere

Re: "UKPSA "
Yeah the wording has been changed to allow other governing organizations.
Re: "UKPSA "
The most recent incarnation of the Home Office Guidance had next to little change to the previous, EXCEPT for the change to Section 1 shotgun conditions/governing bodies.
Do a search...it was discussed on the forum last week & the CURRENT (new) conditions pasted verbatim.

Re: "UKPSA "
I used to be a UKPSA member, joined after a course at Thornlands. I've had a go at Shotgun but its not the same as pistol.
Re: "UKPSA "
When I put in a variation last year I also asked them to remove the UKPSA bit & it came back without mention of any governing bodies regarding the section 1 shotguns (3 slots )bofor wrote:I am in the process of putting in for a variation and I have a "condition"which I think should be removed but don`t want to rock the boat too much as variations are done "very fast" in my area.

Re: "UKPSA "
I've asked twice and the UKPSA bit still came back, but now it mentions the NRA and TSSA also...
Re: "UKPSA "
These are my FAC conditions for S1 Shotgun:-
However I did enclose the a letter with my variation & an excerpt is below:-
"May I respectfully request that the Condition 6 on my current FAC regarding section 1 shotguns be amended to remove any mention of UKPSA, hopefully you are aware that UKPSA are not recognised as either a regulatory or statutory body under the Home Office Firearms Licensing Act. There are many other organisations within the UK who hold competitions & set out courses of fire other than UKPSA, one of whom I am a member of as stated above.
Furthermore the ACPO FELWG Practical Shotgun document version 6.1 dated 20/02/2007 clearly states in point 4.3 that UKPSA does not have qualifications in courses of fire.
Firearms licensing departments have already removed mention of UKPSA in their section 1 shotgun(s) conditions such as the below:-
6. The Shotgun(s) to which this certificate relates may be used in recognised practical target shooting disciplines as a member of a relevant club or recognised association and where the holder has permission to shoot with that class of firearm.
7. The 12 bore solid slug ammunition to which this certificate relates shall only be used on ranges in respect of which a range safety certificate specifically authorises use of same or on other land on which the holder has permission to shoot with that class of firearm and ammunition type.
8. The firearms rated shotgun(s) may also be used for CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING.
May I politely request that these are added to replace my current conditions relating to section 1 shotgun(s)"
No issues & no fuss from my FEO

Re: "UKPSA "
I've had less success with this...even though I've supplied various links and documents.
May have to refresh their memory...esp. in light of the new set of Guidance To Police notes.
They view such guns as more evil than a minibus full of 1970's BBC presenters.
