Fettling the Vinci

#1 Post by Demonic69 »

After some fun shooting steel on Sunday, and getting to play with my new caddies, it prompted me to open up the loading port on the Vinci.
One of the best features of the Vinci is the plastic receiver and completely enclosed magazine tube. This means that the follower is held into the mag tube even when the whole thing is out of the gun, so when opening the port there's no mag tube to worry about. It's also VERY easy to sand down.
I did manage to get down to metal but it's just a structural part so taking a little bit off isn't going to hurt anything,
I started by masking off where I wanted to take it down to, then took the bulk off with the belt sander.
Once I was close I moved to a rasp, then a file. The edges were sharp so the rotary tool came out with a sanding drum and they were rounded off.
Finally some fine sandpaper to take it down to a nice smooth finish.
It's not totally done yet, still a few deep scratches to sand out but pretty close.
The receiver was marked when I bought it so I think I'll sand it down and paint and hydro dip it :-)

Yeah BamBam. They go in quite well now. More could come off in theory but I'll not push it :-)
