Re: BR99: tacky butt pad
If it snags while mounting it's the stock being too long (I also found this). I didn't find any solution other than replacing the whole lower so I could fit an adjustable stock

Re: BR99: tacky butt pad
I have an idea involving black stockings. The girls at work refuse to give me any so I will be forced to buy some from the pound shop.
I'm figuring I can remove the butt, wrap it tight in two layers of stockings and then reinstall the butt with the excess stocking tucked in the stock.

Re: BR99: tacky butt pad
Well I almost went with a stocking but then I realised that if it can ladder that easily on a woman's leg, it'll ladder in one minute on the gun.
So I used a sock instead. I got a sock with a slightly elasticated top, and cut the toe off. I turned it inside out and sewed the top closed (yes, I can sew if I need to, lads!)
Then I turned it the right way out and placed the butt pad in it. I pulled the sock over it really tight, then tied the toe end into a knot. That knot goes into the butt. Putting the butt pad back into the butt stock was a bit of a fiddle because it is really tight. However I got it in and it looks okay:
Tested it today and it works great. It is just as comfortable as before and doesn't snag at all. The only thing is it will collect burrs and grass, but these can be pulled off easily enough.
Best thing about this: it is a very cheap fix. Costs a sock and a needle and thread...

We thought it was traditional when toting stockings and shotties that the stockings went over your head so the Post office clerk didn't recognise you...

Re: BR99: tacky butt pad
It looks like a woollen sock....what size is it ?
and what did you do with the other one ?

Re: BR99: tacky butt pad
I don't know the size, probably a UK 9-11.
As luck would have it one of the reasons I chose that sock was because its mate never made it back from the laundromat. Any sock will work as long as it isn't too thick.

Re: BR99: tacky butt pad
I've tested the sock and it works well. The only minor issue is that dried grass can stick to the sock but it doesn't interfere with function and is easily removed after the session.
