Practical Shotgun article in Sporting Gun magazine
There is a very good article about the NRA discipline of Target Shotgun, which includes all sorts of sub-disciplines including Practical Shotgun, in the latest Sporting Gun magazine.

Excellent. I'll have a read of it when I next go to the gun shop.

Re: Practical Shotgun article in Sporting Gun magazine
Glad to see wider spread recognition of the sport(s)
Was a conscious decision made by the NRA to collectively call their version of 'dynamic' (for want of a better word) type shotgun disciplines "Target Shotgun", encompassing Practical Shotgun or did it have to be 'sold' that way to the NRA 'board' or something?
Its just most people think of Target Shotgun being a thing in itself, and a separate discipline to Practical Shotgun, which came before TSG??
A bit like the 100m sprint being a thing, the 100m hurdles being a thing, but then referring to both (and including other disciplines) as The 100m Hurdles Probably not the best example, but its early....

They use it as an umbrella term to encompass everything shotgun related that is not clays, or furry/feathered

I appreciate that, but why Target Shotgun which was/is a thing in its own right already, to me it just confuses matters. NRA Shotgun, Timed Shotgun, Precision Shotgun, Action Shotgun, Active Shotgun..... or even Practical Shotgun would've been better (IMHO) as the collective word.techguy wrote:They use it as an umbrella term to encompass everything shotgun related that is not clays, or furry/feathered
