A Pathe film of guns sent by US citizens. Wonder what happened to them. Some nice cased sporting arms by the look of things. Who wouldn't like a rummage?

They're probably still in some warehouse or other, just gathering dust.

They were dumped at sea in various locations as ammunition for most of them was unobtainable during the war , I imagine the best stuff was cherry-picked by senior officers.

Looks like a lot of short barrelled shotguns, some nice stuff in there, but also some muzzle loading stuff. Looks like our yank friends disposed of their unwanted stuff to keep the Nazis from our doorstep.

Premium stuff we had to go into debt to buy.

A lot of fine firearms and optics were sent to the UK including more than a few Thompson guns. The U.S. NRA magazine had an article on this subject and profiled some of the weapons that were returned at the end of the war. It appeared to be random those that were returned and those that were dumped at sea. All of these were donated by private citizens, separate from the extensive Lend-Lease arms sent by the U.S government.

I imagine the Americans of that era hoped that the firearms they sent to Britain's defense were appreciated at the time.
