Selling a shotgun barrel - advice needed
I have something I need advice on please. I have a spare 24" barrel for my M2, which I got when I bough the shotgun. I'm now thinking of putting the spare barrel up for sale. At the moment it occupies a slot on my FAC. If I sell it to someone with a suitable slot on their FAC then I get what I need to do. However what happens if I sell it to someone with a shotgun certificate, rather than an FAC, is it the same procedure, do they need an empty 'slot' in the same way? Sorry, but have no experience of shotgun certificates so could do with some pointers please.
Re: Selling a shotgun barrel - advice needed
No, shotgun certificates are "slot free", so holders can buy whatever they want that falls under S2.

Oh right thanks, something simple for a change. Would there something on the shotgun certificate for me to fill though?
Re: Selling a shotgun barrel - advice needed
Yep, there's a table for shotgun transfers as per FAC which you will need to fill in (and notify police of the transfer) as per FAC.
No ammo table though, but that doesn't sound like it'll affect you at all.

If the Barrel is 24" measured from the breech face and it is not rifled, I would say it is a non controlled part.
Don't know why it is on a FAC.

Serial numbered, chambered and no SGC to go on?25Pdr wrote:If the Barrel is 24" measured from the breech face and it is not rifled, I would say it is a non controlled part.

He said it is a spare barrel, doesn't need to be entered on any certificate.
Even if it was the main barrel it is still not a controlled part. Doubt it would have a ser no. anyway.
Don't ask me how I know.

No control of shotgun barrels = no need to fill on ANYTHING on anyone's certificate
Until recently they were an itemised part on SGCs up here....

Well, you learn something everyday.
However, what happens now it is "in the system", so to speak?

Do as I was told...by the office. ..they should be off the system already and will be removed from paper copies in due course.zanes wrote:Well, you learn something everyday.
