GSG 1911 .22lr lbp

A couple of guys at our club use them and, to be blunt, they seem to have no end of jams / stoppages / FTF and mags falling apart and very rarely seem to finish a comp with them. I've tried a Buckmark, K22 and GSG 1911 and, only in my opinion, the K22 is the best overall. The Buckmark is great and very accurate but controls are fiddly and only 10 round mags are an issue; that being said my wife still kicks my but with her Buckmark. The GSG feels really heavy and, as already mentioned, seems to have issues. The K22 just seems to work, has big mags and controls in the right places but, as always, that's just my experience.

I've been to a few practical .22 gun comps this year and to be honest i've seen just as many jams with K22s (in virtually every guise they come in), Sigs etc as with the 1911s.

The difference has been though that as the 1911s are single action only when they fail to fire they need to be re-cocked (either manually on the hammer, or by racking the slide), which takes a lot longer than simply pulling the trigger a second time like with the DA/SA action guns. Its one of the major things that has stopped my buying one straight away.

I can't speak to the reliability of the v1 slide on the earlier GSG 1911's - but the v2 such as mine is ok - note that I'm not saying it's perfect, but in my case mines only had about 500 rounds through it.

The only failure type I've had so far is that occasionally the slide locks back as if the mag is empty - except it isn't. I've probably had this 3 or 4 times.

With regards the comp holster - I can't really say for sure as it's not something I've looked at.

My new GSG has proven to be very reliable. I put 500 rounds through it in an evening and had one FTF near the end of the night. Pretty confident that that was down to the mucky Blaser ammo rather than the pistol.

One of our club members had an issue with his where the slide would lock back occasionally, this was due to the slide release not holding open. A mini Dremmel session and it was fixed.

The stock sights are junk in my opinion. I'm putting a red dot on mine mounted directly on the slide, should have this in place in about a week's time when we get the new mounts in.

+4 followers work really well with the stock springs.
