Re: cowboy action shooting
again, if you are interested, guns do get lent. but that would depend on who was at the particular shoot you were going to. i don't use a SxS, i use my 1897. and depending on what guns you have, could depend on what type of group you shoot. as you can ditch either one or both pistols. and start with a loaded rifle, empty that, then reload another 10 so you are basically shooting the pistol targets with the rifle. for example.
as for the revolvers themselves, blackpowder pistols are fine

I have a buddy that goes to the states to shoot this event and loves it. A lot of club shooters would have at least the LBP and a Marlin.
I've always thought this could be fun to do over here. Maybe when we get the new range up and running next year.

Looks like a lot of fun. 3-gun for prospectors!
Re: cowboy action shooting
We have CAS at our local club however my understanding is you need to wear the gear plus you will need the guns to suit.

Don't mind the gear but I draw the line at dressing up, too much like the re-enactors for my taste.

LBR's would be frowned upon unless they were the buntlines. likewise you can't just use any old pump, whereas you can use any old SxS.
nitro conversions are fine, as one of my 1873's is an anvil conversions job. BUT, you wouldn't be able to use a modern styled revolver like the smith types he sells. it would want to be a cowboy esque style. but as said, you would probably be able to use it for initial comps until you get one.
it really isn't reenacting Dromia, no one stitch counts, no one turns their nose up if you are wearing jeans with belt loops etc, its enough that you are interested! Its very laid back, you don't call any one 'pardner, or say howdy (unless you wanted to, but I have NEVER heard any one do it) its just a bit of fun, and for me, if wearing a cowboy hat enables me to do a fun sport, i'll do it

Really sounds like a fun days shooting - Already have Remington Nitro conversion from Anvil - Was thinking of selling it - but not now - just need to buy the Shotgun - like to idea of a s by s coach gun plus a marlin
