Hello all, I have only just discovered this forum and as I was an avid and enthusiastic shooter for many years until I lost all my firearms in the knee jerk reaction to the tragedy in Dunblane all those years ago. My interest in all matters to do with shooting started before I joined and during my time as a regular soldier in the 1960's and on leaving the army in 1969 I continued to shoot rifle and pistol. After Dunblane I campaigned strongly for a more "lenient" approach to the eventual ban but was as is clear, unsuccessful. I used to shoot small bore pistol at County Level (Hampshire and Sussex) and was a regular entrant in Full Bore pistol at the NRA and NPA meetings. I was also a regular reloader. I had owned over time, several .22 target pistols until settling on the Unique DES69 UIT target pistol. My first full bore pistol was a Browning HiPower that I sold to my dentist and replaced it with a very nice S&W Mod 19. I did reloads for both but eventually I gave up with the effort of reloading 9mm Burden cases!! I also has a nice little .25 Mellior pocket pistol from around 1900. I gave up shooting after my guns had gone and never found the spark to get back into it, until now. I was a member of Chichester R&P club and a founding member the NovioMagnum Pistol Club and a member of the Aldingbourne R&P club for some years. At one time I organised pistol shooting competition and promotion for the Sussex County R&P Association. Well, that's that boring story out of the way and now I am back interested in the sport again.

Welcome

I was down at the Chichester rifle club (smallbore) shooting on Saturday evening (Worthing & West Sussex vs Hampshire). Very nice range now although I certainly didn't do it justice :(

Salut & welkom !
Very nice part of the country you live in. I shot a little at Worthing pistol club before moving to London. I certainly miss it .

Hi Richard - Welcome!
I'm just along the coast as my handle might suggest. I recall shooting pistols once or twice on the Brighton Madeira Drive range and also at Patcham - Also thinking back to the 1960's (.303 days :)) shooting at Storrington, Stenning, Kithurst, Bo-peep, Alciston, Crumbles all long gone now :(.

Thank for the welcome chaps! Nice to see some Sussex "relics" here as well!! I loved the Brighton Range spent many a cold damp Sunday there! As for Patcham, fantastic in the summer with a nice long walk up to the Chantry and back....

Interestingly my old dentist used to shoot a HiPower and always used to ask me how my shooting was going and then launch into a drawn out explanation of why he would never ever consider owning a firearm of any sort again, he would then go mack to reminiscing about shooting and the good old days before kicking me out of the chair until the next visit.
