Re: Ruger Takedown
Not really, no. Unless it is crazy cheap I wouldn't bother, there are more than enough 10/22s around to be picky. You could modify existing stocks or get an aftermarket takedown stock - they exist but only a few compared to hundreds for the normal rifle.
If it is really cheap, buy it and sell it on for a profit as they still command more than regular models.

Re: Ruger Takedown
The main purpose for these rifles is to be snugged away in a backpack when you're out hiking (in the US). Do that in the UK and you'll be away for an 18 month stretch Unless you need a rifle you can hide away in normal bag (because you're travelling on public transport, live in a dodgy area etc etc) then I wouldn't bother personally. The takedown models aren't compatible with most aftermarket stocks and the build quality of a lot of them is questionable.
Don't get me wrong though, if I was offered one for a good price and you could just buy .22 rifles the same way you can S2 shotguns I'd definitely have one!

Re: Ruger Takedown
I have to say I am not particularly taken with the 10/22 Take Down despite being a fan of and owning a few TD's from other manufacturers. The lock up was poor and the rifle badly finished on the brand new example I handled and even after I had adjusted everything it still was not great. I would only consider one if it was ridiculously cheap and even then....
Just my two pence worth.
