Its as well they doint live here if they doint like seeing armed police. The fact that that people comment says it all, if they were all armed tomorrow after a while no one would even notice.
Re: Armed coppers in Tesco - people get upset...
PS. They doint walk around here like John Wayne with leg holsters, as in the photo.

I don't see what the problem is with armed coppers. Maybe living in a country where the police had belt-fed set up in the sustained fire role, and normal coppers had Romanian AKs in thier cars has de-sensitised me, but I really don't feel oppressed when a copper has a firearm.
End of the day, I'd rather they had something on them rather than have to wait 40 minutes for someone armed to turn up.

It still is Froggers, it still is. We have a proper yew warbow do we (all warbows are long bows, but not all long bows are war bows). It's a magic stick, capable of turning frogs into porcupines at 500 paces...froggy wrote: Wasn't it, once upon time, compulsary in Englands green & pleasant Land to practice archery every sunday on the pleasant pastures and over the clouded hills ?
What of the bow?
The bow was made in England:
Of true wood, of yew-wood,
The wood of English bows;
So men who are free
Love the old yew-tree
And the land where the yew-tree grows.
What of the cord?
The cord was made in England:
A rough cord, a tough cord,
A cord that bowmen love;
And so we will sing
Of the hempen string
And the land where the cord was wove.
What of the shaft?
The shaft was cut in England:
A long shaft, a strong shaft,
Barbed and trim and true;
So we’ll drink all together
To the grey goose-feather
And the land where the grey goose flew.
What of the mark?
Ah, seek it not in England,
A bold mark, our old mark
Is waiting over-sea.
When the strings harp in chorus,
And the lion flag is o’er us,
It is there that our mark will be.
What of the men?
The men were bred in England:
The bowmen—the yeomen,
The lads of dale and fell.
Here’s to you—and to you!
To the hearts that are true
And the land where the true hearts dwell.

The state is accountable to the people not the other way round.
as if ... as mentioned before it is about time that the public realise that times have changed

We all know who we are so we do NOT need ID cards for the reasons stated by others! We are NOT part of someone's inventory ergo we do NOT need ID cards in any shape size or form - ever!
There is NO valid reason to have them whatsoever.
Anyway, people in the UK get upset about anything these days!
Political Correctness is the language of lies, written by the corrupt , spoken by the inept!
Re: Armed coppers in Tesco - people get upset...
The problem is that the growing nation of winge bags and experts can now reach a much larger audience, so their mithering connects with other moaning tossers and before you know it....you have a "Big Issue".Chuck wrote:Anyway, people in the UK get upset about anything these days! The state is accountable to the people not the other way round.

Personally I could not care less. Bout time the cops had teeth and regained the sort of "Respec" they might have had in the 60s before our "Yoot" decided to talk in a wierd language and believe they are gangsters....
If "Rolling with the nines" is how you want society to be, then dont moan when "Babylon" gets "Tooled up". Suck it up fools, its your own fault

Actually , I see plenty od reasons :
- It is free & let me travel around EU without the need for paying for a passport.
- I bet 99% of adresses given during the bus ticket control are bogus,
- Election fraud @ the ballot box is so much easier without ID,
- Illegal immigrants themselves admit UK feel much safer than France where there is risk of ID check,
etc... etc...
My ID card lives in my wallet 24/24, I dont even think about it.

Tesco is the best place for some armed police given the frequency with which they leave issued guns lying around unattended:
"Remove your item from the bagging area"
I.D. cards?
Free!
Froggy misunderstands "Westminster logic".
My driving license now needs expensive reissue every few years to remain legal.
It HAD been valid from date of passing test until age 70.

My passport states I am a citizen of the United Kingdom, maybe your passport is special. It's something the Americans on a certain forum are always going on about is that they are citizens but we Brits are subjects. So I checked the wording on my passport.
