I was told by a friend that it was Cactus Arms. Appeared to be based on a .22 conversion kit similar to the CZ75 kadet in that only part of the slide reciprocates.

Just checked Cactus arms and nothing of anything is on their website. Why do so many gunshops and suppliers have either crap or non-existent websites?

Why would anyone pay £1500 for a 1911?

Full blown race guns prior to 1997 would run at around £2500.

What is it that economists say, "The value of money halves every 20 years?" So that would be around five grand today for a full tilt piece of kit. Oh the time before kids.....

Many thanks for your enquiry. The guns I had at the show were preproduction samples, but the price is going to be £1500 to include 4 mags as you said. The main difference between the GSG and mine is obviously the quality, which is reflected in the price. All the internals are quality 1911 parts by manufacturers such as Wilson, Ed Brown and Caspian rather than cheap MIM parts of the GSG. The parts are all hand fitted which will be reflected in both accuracy and reliability. I hope to have product for sale at the end of July.

I still feel the cost is high, as you can by the GSG and replace slide and all internal for less than 1000.00. Only time will tell if the new "quality" 1911 is really worth it

Apart from 1911 'purists' (although I don't know how that is reconciled against the 12" barrel and coat hanger), I can't see why anyone would pay the extra money for either the Cactus Arms or Low Mill 1911. The guns are firing .22lr, not 9mm, 45ACP or any other of the chamberings that could put sufficient stress on the gun that would require them to be made of high grade steel etc.

I'm not having a go at anyone who has bought one, or thinking about it but I just don't know why you'd not buy a GSG, tons of mags and ammo, have it Cerakoted to any colour/pattern you want, buy a full competition rig and you still won't have spent the same amount of money.
