H&K MP5A4 .22rf

#1 Post by bnz41 »

Not owned a semi auto before so thought I would get one before the EU ban them.....

Took it to my local gunsmith to see if it could be threaded for a mod. They made a threaded adaptor from 8mm barrel size to 1/2"UNF for the mod.

I love the little A4 variant. A bloke in my club got one about the time I still had a GSG. Next to each other the A4 just felt better in a comparison. But sorry Neil, that mod on there looks bloody awful to my eyes....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Congrats on the new rifle. I have the A5 version of this and it runs like a champ, no problems whatsoever. I haven't handled the real thing but there's a couple of people in my club who have and they seem to think that the weight and feeling isn't too far off. Might be especially fun for some mini-rifle.

Hello would you be so kind as to tell me where you had the work carried out as I'd like to do the same to mine and then put a reflex mod on it

Hi,

Work was carried out by the gunsmith I bought the rifle from new.

First things first, once the work had been done we tried 4x .22rf reflex sound mods he had in stock can't remember who made them, problem they did not fit. The length of the fake muzzle brake and including the thread adapter is 91.15mm the mods depth to the start of the threads ranged from 100.59mm to 104.76mm too deep.
You need to reduce the length of the fake muzzle brake to allow access to the barrel threads which are 8mm, but the hole in the muzzle brake once this is done is bigger than the 8mm barrel size, so he made a collar that fits inside & behind the thread adapter to hold the brake in place the adapter just tightens up to it.. See picture 3 the bit behind the thread.
Was told that a Wildcat may fit not sure how deep the threads are on one of those.

Sorry can't help more.

Hey yes I forsaw that problem and sourced a mod that would slip over the fake comp and also have only 3 inches of reflex from the muzzle of the rifle so plenty of clearance ,. Who was the gunsmith you had it done by ? as I live in Essex

Guys,

You can buy a complete mod that screws on straight out of the box, not sure if it fits every variant or just the GSG one. It is basically a longer sleeve with an integrated mod, it does make the rifle longer but probably the same length as the one above.

The picture is from pigeonwatch (which I hope is alright) but it's to show the mod not the gun for sale

You could also do what I've done and have the fake sleeve, mod and barrel cut down. Makes everything look sooo nice shakeshout
