Section 1 Shotgun FAC Question
Hi,
I am currently doing research in readiness for applying for my FAC, the club I shoot at does not have a practical shotgun range however they do clay shooting off site.
I shot a Winchester SX3 a while ago and loved it, as I understand these come under section 1 and as such have to be listed on your FAC application. What would constitute a good reason? Would clay shooting suffice? Or would I need to join another club that does practical shotgun?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Section 1 Shotgun FAC Question
You can get both "normal" Section 2 versions and the higher capacity FAC versions.
You can, (at least with Cheshire Police) use a Section 1 shotgun for clays as a secondary use to "Practical Shotgun" or "Target Shotgun", but you can't have one just for the sole purpose of shooting clays.

Re: Section 1 Shotgun FAC Question
Thanks, there is another range not far from me called Diggle that does practical shotgun, I may well join up there as well so I can shoot that aspect as it looks really good.

Re: Section 1 Shotgun FAC Question
You'd need Target Shotgun as primary reason, or Practical Shotgun of one form or another.
Try to get on one of the two day courses too, great fun & you'll learn a lot.

Re: Section 1 Shotgun FAC Question
Joining Diggle would give you good reason for a section 1 shotgun.

Re: Section 1 Shotgun FAC Question
NRA shoot practical and slug shotgun matches, if your club is affiliated or you are a personal member of the NRA then you have your suitable place to shoot S1 shotgun.

You can also apply for an S1 for vermin control.

Only hitting rabbits with slugs is not recommendedOvenpaa wrote:You can also apply for an S1 for vermin control.
